Bihar Government would rebuild over 30 schools destroyed by Maoists in past 3 years.
“The government has approved a plan to rebuild the school buildings damaged in the last few years,” an official of the education department said.
This follows demands from villages where hundreds of children have been deprived of education because of the Maoist mayhem.
“The government will construct additional class rooms in all such school buildings,” another official said.
The schools attacked by the Maoists were mainly located in Aurangabad, Arwal, Gaya, Jamui, Jahanabad, Rohtas, Banka and Munger districts.
Maoists have targeted school buildings fearing they would be used by paramilitary forces. The guerrillas have also attacked railways and mobile phone towers.
In 2011, Maoists blew up 13 government schools, up from eight in 2010. The figure was 15 for 2009 and three in 2008.
