Ahead of Bihar, Delhi is gearing up for Chhath Puja. CM Minister Sheila Dikshit has ordered all departments to make proper arrangements for Chhath Puja, which falls six days after Diwali.
“Civic agencies have been alerted to ensure cleanliness and sanitation around Chhath ghats,” said Mukesh Sharma, parliamentary secretary to the chief minister.
CCTV cameras will be installed at various places on the banks of the Yamuna river and other water bodies in the capital frequented by the devotees to perform Chhath Puja.
The minister also directed Delhi Police to ensure adequate security arrangements during the puja. Tents will be erected for the devotees at several places on the Yamuna banks, he said.
Present at the meeting were Divisional Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Revenue) Dharampal and Tirth Yatra Vikas Samiti chairman Uday Kaushik, among other officials.
The Public Works Department and Irrigation and Flood Control Department have also been working in tandem to make Chhath Puja celebrations successful.
Sharma, along with working president, World Bhojpuri Sammelan, Ajit Dubey, initiated construction work of a Chhath Ghat at Najafgarh Canal and a Chhath Park in Vipin Garden Extension in west Delhi.
