Political Fraternity condoles the demise of Bal Thackeray

Bal ThackerayPolitical Fraternity of India is mourning the demise of Bal Thackeray.

Gujarat CM Narendra Modi in his condolence message said,”Full of life, Balasaheb Thackeray was an epitome of courage and valour. I am grieved to hear about his demise. May his soul rest in peace”.

Shri Modi said, “This is an end of an era. Balashaeb Thackeray’s death is not only a loss to the Nation, but in him I have personally lost a guide! He was fighting like a warrior. But at the end, we are all left sad. On a personal level, he was very affectionate towards me.”

Shri Modi also added that Balasaheb was a true Indian patriot. He kept himself away from the greed of power, yet carried an entire political movement on his shoulders. In him, we have lost an intense patriot thinker.

 

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar  said in a condolence message., “A political era in Maharashtra politics has come to an end after the passing away of the Octogenarian Shiv Sena leader. Thackeray had a special place in the political annals in Maharashtra”.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee wrote on her Facebook Wall, “Today Bal Thackeray has passed away. Though I did not get an opportunity to interact with him personally, yet I found him as a person of exceptional organizational qualities. He played a major role in Indian politics for a long time. I express my heartfelt condolences to the members of his bereaved family and followers. May the departed soul rest in peace”

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his Message said, “The passing away of Balasaheb will be deeply felt by his family and followers. The interests of Maharashtra were particularly important for him and he always strived to inculcate a sense of pride in the people of the state,” said the prime minister after Thackeray, 86, passed away Saturday due to health complications.

“He founded the Shiv Sena and built the party into a formidable force in the state politics with his strong leadership and extraordinary organisational skills. He was a consummate communicator whose stature in the politics of Maharashtra was unique,” said the prime minister, according to an official statement.

In his condolence message, Karunanidhi recalled his meeting with Thackeray in 1968 in Mumbai and said: “Though we differ on many aspects, the love and simplicity Thackeray showed during the meeting attracted me very much.”

Rajinikanth termed Thackeray as a father figure and said: “This is a great loss to all. My heartfelt condolences to all his family members and followers all over the world.”

President Pranab Mukherjee  condoled the death of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray and said it was a loss to people of Maharashtra and the country.

In a message to Bal Thackeray’s son Uddhav, Mukherjee said the nation has lost a veteran leader who worked to help the common man.

“I am extremely sad to learn about the passing away of your father, Shri Balasaheb Thackeray. Shri Thackeray’s passing away is a loss for the people of Maharashtra and India,” the president said.

“In his death, the nation has lost a veteran leader who worked to help the common man and whose contributions in the field of media added a different perspective to the political discourse,” Mukherjee said.

“Please accept my heartfelt condolences and convey the same to other members of your family and numerous followers of Shri Balasaheb Thackeray. I pray to the almighty to give you and your family the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss,” the president added.
