West Bengal government has started  e-stamping facility in ten offices of the registration and stamp revenue directorate, besides computer generated signature for filing returns under Value Added Tax Act and Sales Tax Acts.
“This will help the state government to bring transparency in the system and enhance efficiency in the administration,” State Finance Minister Amit Mitra said here today.
Mitra said that the initiative would facilitate property registration and improve efficiency. The computer generated signature for filing returns would help all dealers registered under the VAT and Sales Tax in the state, as they required to file mandatory online returns, besides submitting printed copy of the return.
Mitra also said, “Finance department is introducing a web-enabled application software to track online movement of files to take quick decision.”
