Subhash Chandra Tomar, a Delhi Police constable  who was critically injured during Anti Rape Protests two days back, has succumbed to death early morning today.
Tomar aged 48, was seriously injured on Sunday after being attacked on a road leading to India Gate during a mass demonstration that turned violent.
According to police officers, after he fell on the street, he was kicked and beaten. His colleagues found him unconscious and bleeding and rushed him to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
Since then, he suffered a cardiac arrest and remained on ventilator. Delhi Police spokesman Rajan Bhagat said Tomar’s condition deteriorated at night and he passed away at 6.30 a.m. Tuesday.
Eight people were Sunday night arrested for the attack on Tomar but were granted bail the next day, Joint Commissioner of Police Taj Hasan said.
He said the accused would now be booked for murder.
