Darbhanga International Film Festival, the first ever film festival in the Mithilanchal region of Bihar would be held in Darbhanga on February 2 and February 3 2013.
Film makers from all corners of India including Foreign  are slated to participate in DIFF 2013. The Festival would also host DIFF 2013 Awards for regional, national and international films.
DIFF 2013 would showcase various films in diversified languages and themes with a special emphasis on Maithili Language Films and is organized  by Darbhanga Film Club (DFC). The festival would cover subjects related to society, tragedy, struggle in life along with other social issues.
This is an initiative to connect the Maithili Film Industry to the Indian Cinema. Despite being the most prominent Language of Bihar after Hindi, the Maithili Film Industry is not so developed unlike Bhojpuri Film Industry.

Darbhanga Film Club acts as an umbrella body for the promotion of Maithili Cinema. Founded by Artists, Film Makers, Writers and Actors from the region, Darbhanga Film Club often exhibits Old and new Maithili Films and is committed to Maithili cinematic milieu.
