Home Ministry has  ordered a special  commission to  enquire the  brutal gang rape of a  Medical Student on December 16 Night in a moving Bus in Munirka, Delhi. The Probe Team would be headed by  retired Delhi High Court judge Usha Mehra. The Victim has been shifted to Mt. Elizabeth Hospital Singapore for treatment.
Government has also ordered a probe into the circumstances in which the first statement was recorded following a complaint by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. Delhi Police chief Neeraj Kumar denied charges that police had tried to influence the magistrate.
Speaking after a cabinet meeting, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said the commission of enquiry would be headed by retired Delhi High Court judge Usha Mehra. She would submit her report in three months.
“The inquiry will reconstruct the whole incident, identify lapses on the part of police or any other authority and fix responsibility for such lapses and negligence,” he said.
“The steps are being taken with the serious intent to find a lasting solution to the problem (of rape) that plagues all metros and other towns of India… That it’s happening in Delhi is a matter of shame,” he said.
Regarding making charges against the accused “juvenile”: The Indian government need to act in an agile fashion and charge this one AS AN ADULT! They need to learn from the very similar case in the USA (Richmond homecoming gang rape) where 2 juveniles, 15 and 16 which is lot younger than “few months less than 18”, were charged as an adult due to the nature of their crime which was gang rape, rape by foreign object and battery causing great bodily injury. Indian legal system – you cannot sit there like an idiot and charge this guy as a juvenile just because he is less than 18. He is a psychopath and they are the same even when they are not adults!
