Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2013 Programme, Schedule and Event Details

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2013 would be held at Kochi, Kerala with Convention starting from January 7  and the day being celebrated on January 9. The Three Day Mega-event would host over 2000 NRI Delegates from over 80 countries.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is celebrated every year on January 9. The Day January 9 has been chosen since it was on this day in 1915 that Mahatma Gandhi, the greatest Pravasi, returned to India from South Africa, led India’s freedom struggle and changed the lives of Indians forever.

Chief Guest

President of Mauritius Rajkeswur Purryag would be the Chief Guest of the 3 day event. While President of India would be the Cheif Felicitator in the last day of Event.

Evening 1 , January 7

For Pravasiya Bharatiya Diwas 2013, renowned dancer choreographer Geeta Chandran has conceptualized a performance entitled SEASONS that explores the changing scape of the Indian seasons through the classical and contemporary idiom. The dance reflects how the human heart reflects the changing moods of changing Mother Nature. Performed by Geeta Chandran and her famed Natya Vriksha Dance Company, the music for the performance is truly global and encompasses both Carnatic classical and western classical scores. The highlight is the finale choreographed to the mesmerizing score of Tchaikovsky

Evening 2, January 8

Bharatham, Keralam a mega stage show would be organized. depicting the Kerala Cultural Traditions and how they help to weave a fabric of cultural integration and unity of India. About 100 artists from all over India would participate in this 45 minutes of show. It has been Conceived and Directed by Soorya Krishnamoorthy

Evening 3, January 9

A Cultural Performance by Mauritian Cultural Group would be organized. The concept behind the show is to primarily interpret, through video projection, the link between India, Mauritius and the World.

Later, Sohini Roychowdhury, with her global troupe Sohinimoksha, will be performing “KERALA” ……..A Journey through the world of Shakti, of celebrating Nature and the Global Oneness, Connecting Civilisations with Gypsy links, and the Humanism of Gandhi.
