Patna: The Food Processing Industry in Bihar has gained Momentum in recent years,making it one of the most coveted destinations for setting up of Food Processing Industry.
Out of 149 Units approved by State Investment Promotion Board, 73 have started Production at various locations in the state bringing an Investment of Rs. 1161.76 Crores. Notable brands which have invested in Bihar include Britannia and Parle G.
These units are expected to generate employment opportunities for 13000 people in the state. Out of 56 Rice Processing Units approved, 26 have started production garnering an investment of Rs 226 Crores.
A Significant Investment has been made in Biscuit Industry with setting up of the units of Britannia, Parle G apart from 4 other companies bringing in an investment of Rs 166 Crores.
The State Industries Department is very enthusiastic about the Investment made in Food Sector despite its failure to drive in Investment in other sectors.
Various Industrial Areas at Patliputra (Patna), Hajipur, Bihta, Fathua, Begusarai are being provided with over 20 Hours of Electrical Power despite heavy Shortage of Power in State.
