Hyderabad Bomb Blasts: 16 People reported Dead So Far

Hyderabad: The death toll in the twin bomb blasts that rocked Hyderabad rose to 16 with two more of the injured succumbing to their injuries Friday.

The deaths took place in two private hospitals, officials said.

Earlier Friday, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde told reporters after a visit to the site of the terror attack that 14 people were killed and 119 injured in the Thursday evening explosions.

Fourteen bodies were brought to the government-run Osmania Hospital Thursday night. Twelve of them have been identified and the bodies handed over to their relatives.

Shinde also visited Care Hospital, one of the seven hospitals where the injured were admitted. Out of 20 in Care, three are in critical condition.

At Omni Hospital, two of the 18 injured are in serious condition, doctors said. Seven of the 14 admitted to Yashoda Hospital are also battling for their lives.

Both houses of parliament were adjourned on Friday after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a noisy protest over the Hyderabad bombings.
Amid the din, BJP members began shouting slogans demanding suspension of question hour and immediate discussion on the Thursday evening bombings in Hyderabad that killed 16 people.

Meira Kumar’s repeated requests to let question hour run and a promise that time would be allotted for the Hyderabad discussion were not heeded. She finally adjourned the house till 12 noon.

Similar scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha where the BJP demanded a statement from Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on the Hyderabad blasts.

Minister of State for Home R.P.N. Singh told the house that Shinde would make a statement at 2.30 p.m.

But this did not assuage the BJP MPs, who continued with the sloganeering. A frustrated Chairman Hamid Ansari adjourned the house till noon.
