IIPM sends DMCA Takedown notice to Mahesh Murthy

The Spat between noted Investor Mahesh Murthy and IIPM grew wilder when  Twitter  sent him a DMCA Takedown notice upon a request by IIPM. Mahesh Murthy is a renowned Investor and also the Founder of a company called  Pinstorm.

The Whole  Drama started few days back when Directorate of Telecom ordered Internet Service Providers of India to block 74 URLs which allegedly had defamatory statements against Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM ).  DoT was directed by a court in Gwalior to take this step enraging several Netizens. The court order asked director general of Indian Computer Emergency Response Team to block 78 web pages including that of University Grants Commission (UGC).

The List of 74 URLs also had few links curated  by Mahesh Murthy on Bitly. This triggered an indirect War of Words between the duo with Murthy slamming it  and calling IIPM a Fraud Organization on Facebook. While no verbal response was made by IIPM, yet it continued to pursue its legal way.

A big chunk of Facebook users supported Murthy and his post received over 3800 shares and 3500 likes.  Here is the Original Post, we produce the text below.

Hey Arindam, you’re a fraud, your IIPM’s a scam.

Just heard that Arindam Choudhuri, he of the pony-tail, has asked DoT to block all I’ve written about IIPM. And all that others have written too.

While his illegal ban goes into effect I have a request: see if you’d like to share this status far and wide: Arindam, I hope you and your team stop lying and making false promises about the education you provide. And stop cheating poor parents out of their savings for your worthless diploma.

Now ban this too, pony-tail. There’s about 60 million of us on Facebook. How many will you silence?

To those who ask “So Arindam Chaudhuri and his IIPM may be slimy but what crime did they commit?”, here is one link for you to start with: http://oh.pn/iipm

How much does Arindam Chaudhuri of IIPM spend on marketing? 24% to 67% of revenues. And on staff salaries? 5%.  [Source]

One of the more curious things Arindam Chaudhuri complained about today was some conspiracy theory of “how some rival college had 30 people doing SEO all night long, clicking away on Google so that every time someone searched for IIPM some uncomplimentary results would show up.”

Tells me:
1. the guy is paranoid-delusional
2. he doesn’t understand how Google works
3. he doesn’t understand SEO
4. and neither do the folks who work for him. [Source]

So Arindam Chaudhuri of IIPM is still trying to censor me. This time via a Twitter DMCA takedown notice. [Source]

Meanwhile, Department of electronics and information technology  has decided to counter-appeal  the Gwalior court to vacate this order in the next hearing on February 28.

Tweets from the official IIPM think tank – @ArindamIIPM – posted a response on Saturday, in which Arindam Chauduri, while stating the web blockade issue was sub judice, accused the UGC and the All India Council for Technical Education of being corrupt and that IIPM was proud to have no affiliation with them.
