For Rajasthan, Railway Minister Pawan Bansal has been very much generous with setting up of Rail Coach Factory in Bhilwara with an investment of Rs 1000 Crores. The State also got the Largest Share of New Trains in this Budget. (listed at the end).
Rajasthan is due to have Assembly Polls in October 2013 and is considered strategically important State for this Budget.
Pawan announced that the Railways will build the coach factory in Bhilwara and that the state government has agreed to give 200 acres of land for the purpose.
The Railways in partnership with state-owned BHEL will set up a modern Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) coach factory in Rajasthan to cater to the growing demand for faster and comfortable inter-city travel. The factory will roll out around 400 MEMU trains in a year.
MEMU trains move faster on electrified tracks and would benefit daily commuters.
