Industry wise Distribution of Funds in Annual Budget for 2013-14

In the Annual Budget for 2013-14, Government plans to augment various Public Sectors by disbursing  considerable amount of Fund. The Highest Priority has been Given to Education Sector while Air India and Delhi Metro have also been kept at the helm of Resource Allocation. Lets take a  Sector Wise  look on the the Budget Resource Allocations.

Power-loom Sector

Chidambaram proposed Rs.2,400 crore (approx $430 million) to modernise the powerloom segment under the technology upgradation fund scheme (TUFS) for the textile sector. The budget also proposes to set up apparel parks within integrated textile parks with an allocation of Rs.50 crore to the textile ministry. The finance minister also proposed to provide Rs.50 crore for integrated processing development scheme which will be implemented in the 12th Plan period to address the environmental concerns of the textile industry.

 

Civil Aviation Sector

The Government proposed to pump in Rs.5,000 crore ($909.09 million) into ailing national carrier Air India in the next fiscal.  Meanwhile, other government aviation bodies such as the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has been allocated Rs.42 crore, out of which Rs.32 crore has been earmarked for its project at Pakyong airport, Sikkim. The aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has been allocated Rs.30 crore to pursue its plan schemes.  Other provisions in the budget include Rs.10 crore for the Bureau of Civil Aviation, while Rs.5 crore has been provided to Hotel Corporation of India for renovation of its hotels and flight kitchen.  Aero Club of India has been provided grants-in-aid of Rs.eight crore.

Education Sector

Government announced an increase of 17 percent in the budget allocated to this sector to Rs.65,867 crore ($12,285 million). The flagship midday meal scheme at government schools got an allocation of Rs.13,215 crore ($ 2,464 million).  Chidmabaram said that thousands of scholarships would be given to girl students, and those belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.  “I propose to allocate Rs.5,284 crore ($985 million) to the various ministries for the purpose,” he said.  The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) for providing education to all was allocated Rs.27,258 crore ($5,084 million).   Chidambaram also  proposed to provide Rs.3,983 crore ($742 million) for  Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan.

Delhi Metro

Budget 2013 allocated Rs.7,701 crore ($,1436 million) to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, which will be spent on construction of Phase-III, to lay another 103 km of tracks in the national capital. The central government will infuse Rs.650 crore as its equity, while it will get pass through assistance of Rs.1,750 crore ($326.401 million).  Apart from this, Rs.5,181.12 crore ($966.35 million) would be invested by the government in Delhi Metro, which is over 34 percent from the revised estimate of Rs.3,848 crore ($717 million) of the previous fiscal. Chidambaram also announced a Rs.120 crore ($22 million) grant for the Delhi Metro, which was Rs.100 crore ($ 18 million) in previous fiscal.
