Karnataka Assembly Elections 2013 Dates announced by EC

New Delhi: Election Commission of India has announced the dates for Karnataka Assembly Elections 2013. The Polls would be held on May 5 while the counting would be done on May 8.

The Model Code of conduct has been immediately placed into effect in the State after the announcement for Vidhan Sabha Polls 2013.

Karnataka has 225 assembly seats, out of which polls are held on 224 Seats. One seat is nominated by the Governor from the Anglo-Indian Community.

Election officials have already held consultations with state authorities and met various political parties in the state during their visit to Karnataka.

Karnataka is currently ruled by BJP which is struggling ever since former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa left the party and formed his own outfit.

Other prominent contestants are Janta Dal (Secular) led by former Prime Minister H D Devgowda and Congress Party.

As per Opinion Polls, Surveys  and Predictions, there is a Big NO for BJP in the state. The Anti-incumbency factor is high which would certainly prevent a second term for BJP led Government.

Chances are that a coalition Government comprising of Janta Dal (Secular ) and/or Congress would be formed.
