Update: BSERC has finally proposed an increment of 7 percent in the tariffs in commercial and domestic sector.
Patna: The Cost of using Electricity in Bihar is expected to witness a heavy spike of 10 percent soon. According to the sources at Bihar State Electricity Regulatory Commission, it has been decided to increase the tariff for both Commercial and Domestic Consumers of Power. The new rates shall be effective from April 2013.
Various power holding companies of Bihar have been repeatedly reporting losses over time and they have recommended a raise of tariff ranging from 2x to 8x at various levels.
The Increase in tariff would also be applicable to People under BPL Categories apart from Religious Institutions.
BERC is likely to make announcement latest by today evening.
