Bihar gets its own Anti-Terror Police Station

Bihar is going to setup its first Anti-Terror Police Station amid rising incidences of Terrorists seeking Refuge in the state. A proposal in this regard has been approved by the State Cabinet yesterday.

In a meeting presided by the State Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, the decision in this regard was taken. The Cabinet all approved  the setting up of Three Member team for searching prospective Vice Chancellors and Pro-Vice Chancellors for the Universities in the state.

The anti-terror police station will be headed by a police officer of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) rank.

The policemen deployed there will gather information about terrorism-related activities and maintain a record of such activities.

In another major decision, the state government approved sanction of an ordinance for constitution of a three-member search team for empanelling prospective candidates for the Vice-Chancellors (VCs) and Pro-VCs of the state universities.

The Chairman of the search committee will be made on the recommendation of the Governor and a candidate will be a reputed educationist or such an educationist conferred the Padma award for his services in education sector.

The second member will be a director of the reputed educational institution, while the third member will be the Principal Secretary (Education).

An advertisement will be put out in two national-level newspapers for the vacancies of the post of the VCs and pro-VCs and the search committee will make recommendation for three candidates from which one will be appointed by the Chancellor in consultation with the state government.

The state government further approved another proposal for creation of the post of the Advisor (Energy) to the Chief Minister.
