Corporate professionals across the country are facing much trouble over the dysfunctional website of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
In 2006, the ministry launched its ambitious MCA21 portal (www.mca.gov.in), a flagship e-governance initiative from Government of India and implemented by Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS).
For about 6 years Professionals and Corporates around the country enjoyed the benefits of best in class information technology solution which facilitated the online filing of various documents for the compliance of the Companies Act, 1956.
However, when the vendor contract for MCA portal implementation switched hands from TCS to Infosys w.e.f. 17th January 2013 things started heading south and it is giving sleepless nights to the professionals and corporates who access the portal to file electronically various financial and non-financial details for the benefit of various stakeholders.
Realizing that the problem is serious, MCA Secretary Shri Naved Masood told media on 30th January 2013 that he expects to tide over the problem within a week’s time. We are in the month of April now and the answer from the Ministry and Infosys is still the same – “We are working on it”.
While the front office functionality is gradually turning the corner, the back office operations at the RoCs and RDs are yet to shift upward gears.
The dysfunctional MCA portal has already caused irreparable damage and it is high time it runs seamlessly to salvage reputation of Corporates, Professionals and its own.
