Patna: Bihar Government’s highly ambitious project of Logistic and Industrial Park in Bihta would be ready by mid-2014. This was revealed by Bihar Industries Minister Renu Kushwaha recently in Patna.
Already big companies like Raymond and Hero Cycles have started their units in the Logistic and Industrial Park (LIP). The Cost of entire project is around Rs 200 Crores and would be spread on 50 acres of Land.
The LIP  is being  essentially setup on the 23 acres of Land of the erstwhile Bihta Sugar Mill. The additional 27 acres of Land has been acquired in the locality.
The LIP plans to have a cluster of smallscale industries, marketing of agriculture produce, transportation of produce, establishment of cold chain and utilization of the freight corridor of the railways for the transportation and supply of perishable items for marketing in keeping with their demand in other states and metros.
Bihta is the upcoming Satellite town of Patna. The Sub-Town hosts the campus of several prominent educational institutions of Bihar including IIT Patna and NIT Patna. Bihta also has the 500 bedded ESIC Hospital and an Indian Air Force Base. A Unit of National Disaster Response Force is also stationed at Bihta , Patna.
The Existing Airport of Patna is also scheduled to be shifted to Bihta for expansion and security reasons.
A $35-million production facility of Cobra Beer,a premium beer brand promoted by Lord Karan Bilimoria was set up at Bihta in 2010.
