Deoghar:  New Argha System has been installed for devotees at Baba Baidyanath Temple during Shravani Mela 2013. This system essentially allows devotees to pour in holy water on a Shivlinga installed outside the main Grabha Griha (sanctum)  of the Temple. The Holy Water would be delivered to the main Shivlinga   through a connecting pipe. There would be multiple Shivlinga installed outside the Garbha Griha.
However, Devotees will have to book their time-slot in advance for visiting main sanctum of Temple. Argha System requires Registration of Wrist Band  (Suvidha Band) and getting a Pass (Suvidha Pass) with time of Worship mentioned on it. The wrist band would also have the name and photograph of Devotee and the Darshan Time, coded digitally on it. The Wrist bands can be purchased at various General Stores and Cyber Cafes of Deoghar apart from various Dharmsalas on the Kanwariya path starting from Dumma. These bands must be activated in order to gain entrance inside the main sanctum of temple and offer Holywater to Lord Shiva.  There are various activation Centers for getting this task done for free. The system has been installed by the Deoghar District Administration with consent from Deoghar Panda Dharma Rakchhini Sabha, a body of traditional priests at the shrine. Â According to District Administration, the preference would be given to disabled pilgrims and women, aged persons and children.
This is a revolutionary system because it would allow large number of devotees to offer Holy Water at shrine simultaneously, thus reducing the rush at the temple and long waiting time which goes upto 30 hours.
During Shravani Mela, devotees collect holy water from River Ganga at Sultanganj (located 100 km from the Temple) and cover the distance by foot in order to offer this to the revered Shivlinga in the temple. Every day over 1 lakh pilgrims visit the shrine daily to offer prayers and holy water.
For Dak Kanwariyas (Dak Bum), there would be a special provision of Golden Pass which will be provided to them at Sultanganj itself. They wont be provided any timeslot of Darshan, but their passes would be changed thrice en-route.
