The Action of Durga Shakti Nagpal made a big hole in the pockets of Sand Mafia

The stolen sand – auctioned for Rs. 8 crore to Omendra Khari, a close associate of SP leader and UP minister Narendra Singh Bhati on July 10 but never picked up – was seized after numerous drives against sand mining mafia in the Gautam Budh Nagar district.

The total quantity of seized sand at nine sites was 2,00,777 cubic meter from the villages of Gadhi Samspur, Wazidpur Nangla Nagli, Asgarpur Kondli Bangar, Kambakshpur, Badoli, Jhatta, Gulavli and Mangroli in the Gautam Budh Nagar district.

Media reports suggest that Normalcy has been restored for the Sand Mining Mafia. A Local Police Officer on condition of anonymity told” we need more such officers who work for the country. It is true that she has been the target of influential people”.

Meanwhile the case of Stolen sand is being investigated by local Police.

“FIRs have been lodged and I am conducting an inquiry into how the sand was stolen from the sites which were supposed to be under police possession,” the SSP of Gautam Buddha Nagar said.

On August 3, Deputy Collector Anju Lata had sent a list of seized sand to the Gautam Budh Nagar police department, to be kept at the respective police stations till a new auction date is set.

Meanwhile Noida DM Ravikant Singh, who had supported  her all through, has been transferred. He has been put on wait list and replaced by DM, Unnao, Hiralal Gupta. Ravikant Singh earned the ire of few politicians when he gave a clean chit to Durga in his report.

In his report Singh said that the wall was demolished by villagers themselves and no JCB machine was put in operation to demolish it.

Though no official reason has been given for Singh’s transfer, it comes after villagers at Sorkha village in Sector 115 in Noida on Tuesday protested against a demolition drive in the area and pelted stones and set ablaze police vehicle.
