Primary Schools in Bihar shall have a mandatory Identity Cards for all Students. However the Card would be issued by the State Government, rather than School. The Card will have a number unique to the student among all schools of the state.
Built on the pattern of the Identity Cards provided to the students of most private Schools, this unique identity card shall be used for distributing various benefits by the Government e.g. Textbooks, School Dress and Scholarship.
Reports suggest that the card will be issued to the students at the time of Admission and would remain valid as long as the student studies in any Primary School.
As per State Government’s Records, 20 Million Students are on the rolls of Primary Schools in Bihar. It is not yet clear if the Card shall have biometric records or not.
