Highlights of CTET 2013 Results announced by CBSE

CBSE  announced the CTET 2013 Examination results on Tuesday, September 03, 2013.  CTET stands for Central Teacher Eligibility Test which is a mandatory exam to become teacher in any recognized school in India.

Around 11% of 9.20 lakh candidates who appeared for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test of July 2013 have cleared the test.

This is the highest pass percentage among the four CTET held so far by CBSE across the country.

The Results can be viewed online at CBSE Results website

The result is in sharp contrast to CTET December 2012  results where less than 1% of the aspirants managed to clear. This is the first time the pass percentage for CTET conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Exam has crossed the 10% mark after a continuous dip in performance.

Indian Teachers in Class

CTET is mandatory to be a teacher in any recognized school

CTET was introduced in 2011 by the human resource development ministry to improve the quality of teaching in schools after the enactment of the Right to Education Act.

CTET has two papers.  Clearing Paper I is mandatory for those wishing to teach classes I to V while Paper 2 is for those wishing to teach classes VI to VIII. Aspirants who wish to get certified for classes I to VIII need to clear both the papers.

Passing CTET  has been made mandatory for appointment as a teacher in classes I to VIII in Central government schools such as the Kendriya Vidyalayas.

While CTET certification is mandatory to become a teacher for classes I to VIII in any central government school,  CBSE-affiliated schools can either recruit teachers based on CTET or the respective test conducted by states.
