Major Fire Breaks at Goregaon Film City in Mumbai

A Major Fire broke out today morning at the famous Goregaon Film City (renamed as Dadasaheb Phalke Nagar) in Mumbai .  Though no casualties were reported, an estimated loss of property of Rs 20 Crores occurred due to the Fire.

TV Reports suggest that the fire first broke on the sets of TV Serial Comedy Nights With Kapil  at around 8:15 AM. Several other sets near Gate No. 2 were caught by fire.

The Fire was brought under control within an hour by four Fire Brigade engines

The Fire Brigade says that Four fire engines, four water tankers and an ambulance was rushed to the spot, as the news of fire reached.

Sonu Nigam confirms on Twitter: “Can u all imagine! I get prepared for Comedy Nights with Kapil, and d set burns into ashes d same day.”

The Goregaon Film City is an integrated film studio complex situated near Sanjay Gandhi National Park at Goregaon East, Mumbai.  It has several recording rooms, gardens, lakes, theaters and grounds that serve as the venue of many Bollywood film shootings including DDLJ, Mohabbatein, and The Burning train.

It was built by Maharashtra government to provide facilities and concessions to the film industry. It was renamed Dadasaheb Phalke Nagar in memory of the Marathi producer-director-screenwriter Dadasaheb Phalke who was father of Indian film industry.
