The Central University of Bihar today formally received the Land for construction of its permanent campus in Gaya.
The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for transferring 300 acres of defence land at the abandoned airfield at Panchanpur in Gaya to the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The University presently runs from a makeshift campus at Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Patna.
There has been lots of controversies in past over the campus location of the University. While the Central Govt and University officials wanted the campus in the vicinity of Patna, Bihar Government was adamant at setting up of University at Motihari.
Last year, it was formally announced that the University would have its campus at Gaya while a second Central University would be setup at Motihari.
Central University of Bihar conducted its first Convocation last month which was presided by Vice President Hamid Ansari and Lok Sabha Speaker Meera Kumar.
