Tropical Storm Phailin has made landing on  eastern coastal regions comprising the states, Odisha Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal. Incessant Rainfall and high speed winds is being witnessed in these areas since Afternoon. The Government has ordered evacuation in coastal regions and around 450,000 people have fled to shelters.

The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted a storm surge with a height of 3 metre 3.5 metre in Ganjam, Puri, Khurda and Jagatsinghpur districts.
In the first reported deaths, two people were killed by falling trees while a third when the walls of her mud house collapsed.
“This is one of the largest evacuations undertaken in India,” said Shashidhar Reddy, vice chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority, who estimated that more than 440,000 people had fled from their homes.
