Man arrested for derogatory FB Post against Bal Thackeray

A Man was arrested by Police in Mumbai for allegedly posting derogatory remarks against Late Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray on a Facebook Page.

The Page allegedly put some derogatory remarks against Shiv Sena and its founder Bal Thackeray in a post, which spurred massive protests and a Police Complaint by its members.

A Case against two unknown people was filed under IT Act. Police got the Facebook page removed while it also arrested one person from Dadar who was the owner of the Page. Police is trying to find another promoter of that Facebook Page, who is from Kalyan Area in Mumbai.

Shiv Sainiks also took on the streets in Kalyan looking for the suspect who was said to be absconding.

According to police, the Facebook page was brought to the attention of some members of the Shiv Sena’s student wing, the Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena, Tuesday afternoon.

“I registered a complaint with the Thane police’s cyber crime cell, which immediately took steps to get the page blocked. The creator of the page had insinuated that our party had taken advantage of people’s sentiments by using the name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and said objectionable things about our Saheb,” said BVS secretary Vikas Repale.

“Someone has played mischief by posting certain derogatory remarks about late Shiv Sena supremo on Facebook,” Repale stated in his complaint.
