Youtube to be launched on DTH TV Channels in India

Video Sharing Website Youtube would soon be launched as a DTH TV Channel in India. Google, the company which owns Youtube , is in talks with various DTH/Cable service providers in India over this issue.

Youtube’s Global director of platform partnerships, Francisco Varela, recently echoed this while on his visit to India. He however didnot name the DTH Providers with whom they were negotiating.

While the company has not yet revealed the model of is Yotube TV operations, we have believe that it would be Youtube TV  that would be available via DTH.

The Users would have option to Log In, Discover New Videos, Subscribe to various Youtube Channels (different from TV Channel) and watch trending or popular content. They would be able to watch videos under various categories like Comedy, Sports,Entertainment, Music,Politics, Movies etc. People can also watch Paid Content very similar to the Paid Programs on DTH Services.

These Services are already available in other countries on more recent Smart TVs.

India is one of the top 5 markets of Youtube. This paradigm shift from Computing Devices to TV is mainly because the average Internet speed is too slow in India, which makes it difficult to browse Videos online.
