Bihar CM Nitish Kumar yesterday did a detailed inspection of various Ghats in Patna in the wake of upcoming Chhath Puja and directed concerned officials regarding issues related to Security, Cleanliness and convenience of Devotees.
He began his Inspection from Gandhi Ghat in a Ship and visited at least 6 Ghats including Digha Ghat, Â Gai Ghat, Chaudharitola Ghat, Bhadra Ghat, Pathari Ghat and Mahavir Ghat.
Talking to Reporters, Nitish Kumar said that a small Diyara has emerged in Ganga near Mahendrughat. Administration has constructed a Makeshift bridge for Devotees willing to perform Puja from the Diyara. Besides, there would be adequate facility of Lightening at all the Ghats.
Roads are being widened to facilitate safe passage of devotees during the 2-day Chhath Puja Festival.
Each of the Ganga ghats would be barricaded with red ribbon to identify the danger zone. Divers would be deployed at all Ghats to prevent any unforeseen situation.  More than 300 life jackets, along with lifeguards, would be available at the control room.
A Large number of Volunteers and Police Force ie being deployed. All the police stations’ in charges have been ordered to intensify patrolling, especially near the river banks.
Last year, at least 22 people lost their lives after a Makeshift bridge collapsed resulting in Stampede at  Adalat Ghat in Patna during Chhath Puja.
