First of its Kind Telemedicine Center launched in Bihar

Patna: The First of its kind Telemedicine Center was launched in Patna yesterday by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.  The center would connect various Primary Health Centers and District Hospitals with Super Speciality Hospitals across the state.

In the first phase, the center is operational at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), Indira Gandhi Institute of Cardiology (IGIC) and Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS). It would provide online consultation through video conferencing and other methods to 22 District Hospitals and 82 Primary Health Centers (PHC).

In the second phase, all medical colleges as well as remaining PHC  and District Hospitals would be included in the project.

Under this projects, the Consultation would follow a tiered scheme where Doctors in the PHC would consult their counterparts in District Hospitals and if necessary to those in Super Speciality Hospitals in Patna or other major cities of Bihar.

Pathological  and other Reports would be instantly available to the Doctors through this system and Patients would be provided with all requisite information at the PHC in case of major surgery.

There would also be a published roster of all Doctors available and their specializations.
