Election Commission of India has penalized Dr. Narottam Mishra, Law Minister of Madhya Pradesh Government for a Paid News Article in a local newspaper.  As part of the penalty, Rs 42,000 has been added to his Poll expenses.  He is contesting on  BJP’s Ticket from Datia Constituency.
The Media Certification and Monitoring Committee of Election Commission found a news article published in a local newspaper on November 1 biased in his favor. Subsequently, the above amount was added to his Poll expenses and was notified to EC and Income Tax Authorities.
Dr. Mishra has a negative record regarding paid news. Several cases are pending against him related to Paid News and suppressing/undervaluing of Election Expenditure. Last month EC had issued a show cause notice to him while threatening a disqualification over alleged  failure to maintain a true and correct account of election expenditure.
