Bihar Government is pitching for establishing its third Food Park in Rohtas, after those in Khagaria and Bhagalpur. Uttar Pradesh based JVL Group has shown interest in setting up a new mega food park in the state. Bihar government is now waiting for clearance from Ministry of Food Processing (MoFP) to proceed on this matter.
Under the new Roadmap of Agro Development, Bihar plans to set up 3 Food Parks, against the Central Limit of 2 for most states. The Government plans to use Bihar’s Backwardness as a Criteria for getting an Additional Food Park granted.
Food Parks facilitate end-to-end food processing with beneficial forward and backward linkages. On par with software parks, the Food parks are equipped with Central Processing Centre and Primary Processing Centres. These aim to be pioneering infrastructure enabler and facilitator for the Food Processing Industry.
The Food Parks provide state-of-the-art food processing infrastructure designed as per global standards and develop a veritable market place with common facilities on the lines of a software park or a textile park.
The Food Parks provide world-class facilities for pulping, IQF, bottling, tetra packing, modular cold storage, warehousing and advanced testing lab. It enables basic and supply chain infrastructure, cluster farming and is ably backed by field collection centers, self help groups and individual farmers. Food Parks empower food industry with state-of-the-art infrastructure and quality raw material sourcing.
