Rajgir: The World Famous Rajgir Mahotsav, which began here yesterday would be extended till Makar Sankranti, said Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who was inaugurating the 3-Day Festival. Makar Sankranti falls mainly on January 14 every year.
Nitish Kumar, emphasized that Rajgir Mahotsav facilitates the visitors to buy variety of handicrafts and similar products made in various corners of the Country. It also boosts the local trade of small hill station of Rajgir.

Elaborate Security Arrangement have been made for Rajgir Mahotsav which expects more than 5 Lakh visitors from Bihar, parts of India and other countries of the World.
Bollywood singer Kailash Kher, sufi singer from Bengaluru Smita Valur performed on the First day of Mahotsav.
Aruna Mohanti from Odisha dance Academy, Gulabo Devi Sapera from Rajasthan and  would be performing today.
Other performance today include Sound of Isha by Isha Foundation, Coimbatore, Bharatanjali dance  by the group of Anita Guha from Chennai, Sufi performance by Singer Kavita Seth and Cultural show by Sri Lankan group.
On December 30, prominent events are Kathak performance “I am Bihar” by Shikha Khare New Delhi, Kathak by Rajendra Nirupama from Bangalore and performance by Raga Boyz from Pakistan.
Ever since Rajgir Mahotsav started in 1986, it has been witnessing increasing crowd year after year. It plays an important role in drawing tourists towards the ancient City of Rajgir.
