Ex-Cricketer Sourav Ganguly might contest 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, if certain reports are to be believed. Reports are that Ganguly has got offers from both BJP and Congress for a candidacy in the 2014 Polls.
It has been learnt that Congress has also put an alternate offer of a Rajya Sabha Ticket to the Cricketer. Sourav has a huge fanfare in Kolkata and his belonging to any Party would mean huge surge of votes in his favour.
Earlier, reports indicated that BJP’s Prime Ministerial Candidate Narendra Modi had offered him the post of Sports Minister, if BJP came to power. The Cricketer had even confirmed about the offer, though he was undecided about it.
“Yes, I have received a proposal, but am yet to decide anything. It’s a big decision, and not an easy one. I will have to sort out so many things,” he said.
In November, he was seen meeting BJP General Secretary Varun Gandhi, who also happens to be the observer for West Bengal. It is said that BJP’s offer was extended by Gandhi, though none has confirmed it.
Today West Bengal Congress President  Pradip Bhattacharya had a meeting with Ganguly at latter’s Residence. However Bhattacharya termed it a personal meeting and  denied any Political linkages to it.
The wooing of Crickter by BJP and Congress, however has irked ruling Trinamool Congress and opposition Communist Party of India (M), who see him as a potential game changer in the Political Equations of West Bengal.
