Bihar gets National Award for Skill Training of Urban Poor

Patna: Bihar has been awarded a National Award for “Best State for Skill Training of Urban Poor under SJSRY for the year 2012-13 (in large States/UTs). The award was presented by the President of India Pranab Mukherjee at a function in Vigyan Bhawan on 21st January 2014.

The award was given by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation, Government of India. The award was received by S. Siddharth, Secretary, Department of Urban Development and Housing, Government of Bihar and Jai Singh, Director, Department of Urban Development and Housing, Government of Bihar.

Bihar was awarded for conducting skill upgradation training of 34,537 youths (BPL) in Urban Areas of Bihar in various trades.
