Hyderabad Autorickshaw Drivers on Indefinite Strike from today

Hyderabad: Autorickshaw Drivers of the city have gone on a Indefinite Strike from today, in support of their 11 point demand. Over 50,000 Autorickshaws Drivers belonging to 16 different Unions have supported the Strike.

The drivers want the minimum fares to be hiked from Rs 16 to Rs 25 and the fare per km to RS 13.

They also want Government to remove the revised Traffic Penalties. They also demand scrapping of the new e-challans in which multiple challans are being issued for single offense. They allege that in many cases challans are being sent without having proper proof.

Despite all this, it is unlikely that all Auto Rickshaws would remain off the roads. In past several Auto-drivers have violated the Call of Strike in order to take advantage of the scarcity of the vehicles on road.
