IIT Delhi to launch 5 year Dual degree Course of B Tech with MBA

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is planning to launch a 5-year B.Tech-MBA Integrated Dual Degree Course from the 2014-15 Academic Session. In an Interview with Pagalguy, Dr. Kanika Bhal, Head of Management Studies at  IIT Delhi revealed this plan.

IIT also looks forward to  international collaborations for this initiative with global B-Schools like Wharton, Harvard, MIT Sloans etc. There won’t be any increase in the fees for this academic curriculum.

It also looks forward to a change in its Management curriculum so that it reflects the current world scenario.  There will be many more electives to choose from as well. Also stress on ethics, leadership skills, responsibility etc.

In 2005, IIT Kharagpur first introduced B. Tech with MBA dual degree programmes through its Vinod Gupta School of Management .

In the same year Shailesh J Mehta School of Management at IIT Bombay also launched similar programme.

In 2007, IIT Roorkee  started similar  program  in Paper Technology with B.Tech. (Process Engineering) and M.B.A. The assigned intake of students for this course is 20 and the students are admitted through the IIT- JEE.

The course has been designed to prepare candidates for taking up challenges of managing process industries in the current competitive business world.

The course curriculum is rather broad-based laying enough emphasis on basic sciences, process technologies, engineering design, economic analysis, and management concepts.
