NBC TV Show Saturday Night Live has hired its first Black Cast member in last 7 years. The Last Black Actor be be hired was Maya Rudolph in 2007.
Sasheer Zamata is an actress, known for Acid Tests (2010), Fodder (2012) and Intimate Semaphores (2014). Sasheer Zamata will join the cast on the show’s January 18th episode, which Drake will host. You can watch one of her Comedy performances here.
Her induction comes after a long controversy over lack of Black Woman on the Show and actor Kenan Thompson refused to dress as a Black Woman.
Zamata graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in drama in 2009. She lives in New York and has done standup Comdey at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, the Great American Comedy Festival, Comedy Central’s Comics to Watch Showcase and more and has participated on the Bonnaroo365 tour as an opening comic.
She has also acted on MTV’s Hey Girl and ABC’s Would You Fall for That?, as well as various commercials.
