Patna: SIS Chief R K Sinha has filed his nomination papers for Rajya Sabha Seat from Bihar in February 7 Elections. Sinha is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee for the elections. Sinha runs SIS (Security and Intelligence Services India Ltd.), one of the biggest private security agencies in the country.
Sinha has declared his and his wife’s assets worth around Rs.800 crore. He has assets worth Rs.564 crore and his wife assets’ are Rs.230 crore, say his nomination papers.
On Monday, he filed nomination papers for the biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha from Bihar to be held on February 7, officials said.
Sinha is also not a new face in the saffron party in the state. His name cropped up a few years ago for the upper house of parliament, but he was not nominated because of caste equations in state politics being then unfavourable.
A first generation entrepreneur, Sinha started, Security & Intelligence Services (India) Limited with a team of two persons from a small rented office in the eastern parts of India in 1974. A graduate of Political Science and Law, Sinha had started his career as a journalist specializing in crime and political reporting. He received accolades for his work as a war correspondent during the Indo-Pak war 1971. During the same period, Sinha also authored “Janandolan” which is widely recognised as the first authentic research book on the student movement in India led by revolutionary leader Jai Prakash Narayan between 1970 – 1975.
It was  R. K. Sinha’s inclination to help the retired ex servicemen post the Indo – Pak war that led him to create a security services company. With time SIS Group grew with his passion, drive and vision for the business. Sinha also served as an Advisor to Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India (1999 – 2004).
RK is also a  well known speaker on subjects like security, loss prevention, training and disaster management. He is a regular faculty at universities across India and US apart from delivering papers at various industry forums across the world. In recognition of his contribution to the industry, the Security Association of Singapore (SAS) honoured him with a Loss Prevention Promoter Award (2006).
