Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2014 was held yesterday at various centers across the country. Following the trend, the XAT 2014 paper was tougher compared to XAT 2013. The Examination has had 103 questions to be answered in 160 minutes and 20 minutes were provided extra for essay writing.
The entire Test was divided into four sections:
Section 1: Verbal and Logical Ability – 28 questions.
Section 2: Decision Making – 24 questions.
Section 3: Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation – 31 questions.
Section 4: General Awareness – 30 questions and another section was Essay Writing.
The expected Cutoff for XLRI should be around 28-30.
The General Awareness Paper was easy and had questions from an array of fields ranging from Indian Economy to International events. A Cutoff of 4-5 is expected.
The Verbal and Logical Ability Section was tough and had questions from Grammar and Vocabulary with moderate to high difficulty levels. A Sectional Cutoff of 10 is expected here.
Decision Making section was time consuming. Some of the questions had incomplete information and answers had closed choices. However it was relatively easy than last year. A Cutoff of 6 is expected.
The Essay Writing Section had a relatively abstract topic “Beautiful Things are not to be Touched but are Felt”.
The Quantitative Aptitude Section was full of concept-based questions which demanded sincere solving time. The Sectional Cutoff is expected to be 9.
