5 Indians among Victims of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 Crash

Kuala Lumpur:  Five Indians are among the 239 passengers on board the Malaysia Airlines plane that went missing when it was on its way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing early Saturday.

According to the passenger manifesto, the Indians on board are Vinod Kolekar, 59, Chetana Kolekar, 55, Swanand Kolekar, 23, Chandrika Sharma, 51, and Kranti Shirsath, 44.

Flight MH 370, a Boeing 777-200 aircraft, took off from Kuala Lumpur at 12:21 a.m. local time and was scheduled to land in Beijing at 6:30 a.m. local time but lost contact with ground control two hours after take-off.

Even as anxious relatives thronged the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the location of the aircraft remains unknown.

According to the airline’s website, there are 227 passengers of 14 nationalities on board, including two infants. All crew members are Malaysians

Apart from the five Indians, there are 154 Chinese, 38 Malaysians, seven Indonesians, six Australians, four Americans, three French, two New Zealanders, two Ukrainians, two Canadians, one Russian, one Italian, one Dutch and one Austrian on board.
