California: City of Dos Palos in California has become the tenth city in USA to declare October 25 as “Rajan Zed Dayâ€Â after distinguished religious statesman Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism.
Cities of Hartford (Connecticut), Taylorsville (Utah), Madera (California), Sparks (Nevada), Chowchilla (California), Sanger (California), Exeter (California), Tulare (California) and Santee (California) have already declared October 25 as “Rajan Zed Dayâ€. City of Reno (Nevada) has also proclaimed a day in Zed’s recognition twice in the past.
Just before the Dos Palos City Council Hindu invocation, from left to right, are— CEO Darrell Fonseca, Police Chief Barry Mann, Councilmember Michael Mc Glynn, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, Councilmember Alice Thompson, Councilmember John Gamboni, City Clerk Andrew Montez and City Attorney Edward Amaral.
Signed Dos Palos Municipal Proclamation in this regard said: “…to honor his efforts to bring various communities together throughout the world to live together in peace, mutual trust, and enrichment through dialogue…â€.
It further stated: “…to acknowledge his work to uplift the 15 million Roma Gypsies of Europe by frequently voicing their maltreatment, issues, and concerns, and urging other religious leaders to do so as well…â€.
Zed opened the Dos Palos City Council on August 20 evening with its first historic Hindu invocation in 78 years of its incorporation containing verses from world’s oldest existing scripture Rig-Veda, and after sprinkling few drops of water from river Ganga of India considered holy by Hindus.
October 25 is Rajan Zed’s birthday.
Zed is a global religious leader, who besides taking up the cause of religion worldwide, has also raised huge voice against the apartheid faced by Roma in Europe. Bestowed with World Interfaith Leader Award; Zed is Senior Fellow and Religious Advisor to Foundation for Religious Diplomacy, Spiritual Advisor to National Association of Interchurch & Interfaith Families, etc.
