Chandigarh: Alleging that Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had illegally married a woman and even has a teenaged son from her, opposition Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leaders Monday sought his immediate resignation.
Addressing media here, INLD general secretary Abhay Singh Chautala alleged that Hooda had married a Dehradun-based woman in 1992 even though he was already married.
“This is a very serious issue. The Congress high command should immediately remove him as chief minister and expel him from the party,” he demanded.
The INLD leader claimed that the woman had complained to a court in Dehradun December last year claiming that she was married to Hooda and had a son from him. Chautala claimed that the woman even filed an affidavit in this regard before the court.
Chautala claimed that the complainant had accused Hooda of cheating her.
The INLD leader demanded that the entire issue should be investigated and Hooda should be removed from his post to ensure a fair enquiry into the matter.
Congress leader B.B. Batra, while defending Hooda, said the charges levelled by the INLD leaders were malicious. He claimed that the complaint moved by the woman had already been dismissed by the Dehradun court as withdrawn.
