9 Bogies Of Rajdhani Exp Derail Near Chapra, 4 Feared Dead

Nine bogies of New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express (12236) have derailed near Chapra in Bihar. Four passengers are feared dead while four others are said to be injured.

 

 

Of the nine bogies that derailed, seven are passenger coaches, the other two being the pantry car and the generator coach. The accident occurred at around 2:05 am between Chapra and Goldiganj stations, minutes after the train left Chapra station.
Railway Board has said that prima facie the cause for derailment seems to be sabotage by the Maoists.
The railways have announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs two lakh to the kin of those dead. The seriously injured passengers will get Rs one lakh each while those with minor injuries will receive Rs 20,000 each.
