In Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s constituency Amethi, some unidentified assailants killed a Congress leader’s son and one other person, while one is left injured. The assailants shot the Congress leader dead. Four men including Pratapgarh MLC Akshay Pratap Singh alias ‘Gopal Ji’, who is known to be close to UP minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, have been booked in the case.

The incident happened when Jamo’s former block president and Congress leader Jang Bahadur Singh’s son Mahendra alias Daddan Singh was travelling in his Qualis in Daulatpur village in Jagdishpur police station area. The assailants who were on-board a Bolero car opened fire at Mahendra. The Congress leader’s son and his driver Suresh died on the spot. Deshraj who was travelling with Mahendra has been left injured in the incident.

Police are probing the old animosity angle in the case. The crime is being said to be a political one and the police have started investigations. The bodies of the victims have been sent for autopsy.
