India’s hope of men’s singles at Wimbledon came crashing down after Somdev Devvarman was knocked out from the first round after he lost a five set battle to 15th seeded Polish Jerzy Janowicz.
The five setters was a hard fought battle for World Nos 125 which lasted for three hours and four minutes. Devvarman lost to World Nos 25, 6-4, 3-6, 3-6, 6-3, 3-6 on Court No. 17.
Indian star started brilliantly, clinching the first set in 39 minutes but went out of steam to lose the match to the Polish.
