Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has denied opposing the promotion of condoms. He said what was required was a combination of condoms and abstinence to fight HIV/ AIDS.
A day after reports said that the minister spoke against promoting condoms for preventing the spread of AIDS, an official statement said that what was published was something which was distorted.
“Through misleading headlines, an impression is sought to be created that I have misgivings about the efficacy of condoms or that I have a moral problem with condoms,” Harsh Vardhan said in the statement.
