Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh High Court Friday ordered a CBI probe into the death of NSG commando Yashpal Sharma under mysterious circumstances in Una district of the state.
A division bench comprising Justice Rajiv Sharma and Justice Sureshwar Thakur, while accepting the petition of the victim’s father Kishori Lal, observed that though police registered a case, it failed to arrest the accused.
The judges observed that the investigating officials had caused inordinate delay in the probe, hence delaying justice to the victim’s family.
The court said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the case was necessary after keeping in mind all the facts in the case. It directed the CBI to complete the probe within eight weeks.
Sharma was a commando in the National Security Guard (NSG) and was stationed in New Delhi. He had come on leave to his native village in Gagret and went missing Feb 12, 2013.
His body was found near Joh village after three days.
