INDIA BEAT BANGLADESH TO WIN FIRST ODI IN RAIN-HIT GAME
Duckworth & Lewis came to India’s rescue to take home the first of the three ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla stadium.
Â
After winning the toss, Bangladesh chose to bat on a slow pitch to set up a target of 292 at the loss of 9 wickets. In reply, Uthappa and Rahane stitched up an opening partnership of 99 before rain interrupted the game. A revised target of 150 in 26 overs was set up for India which was achieved in 24.5 overs at the loss of 7 wickets.
Â
The rain had freshened up the pitch and helped the Bangladesh bowlers in turning the ball and getting a suitable bounce. But even the strong bowling with 50 required in the remaining 9.2 overs did not prove too hard for team India to knock off. With few hiccups in middle overs after the wickets of openers and Cheteshwar Pujara, captain Suresh Raina completed the job with more than an over to spare.Â
