With barely 23 days to go for the start of 20thedition of Common Wealth Games and Indian men’s hockey team is likely to be announced soon. Meanwhile trials to select the national team for upcoming games,has begun .
INDIAN MENS HOCKEY TEAM FOR CWG LIKELY TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON
After some dismal performance at the recently concluded World Cup where Indian men’s team finished 9th, the national selectors will be picking the squad for the games in the trials which will start from today. A few changes are likely to be made for the CWG team.
Field Hockey is one of ten core sports at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. It will be the fifth appearance of hockey at the Commonwealth Games since its inclusion in 1998. The competition will take place between Thursday 24 July and Sunday 3.

So far in last four editions India has failed to win a gold medal at the common wealth games. The best result for Indian team was in 2010 where they finished 2nd . While in 2002 Indian team did not participated
India is clubbed in pool A and will take on Wales in their opening match of the games

on July 25, followed by games against Scotland on July 26, Australia on July 29 and South Africa July 31.Keeping  the last result in mind  Indian team will aim for podium finish in the Glasgow Games and will try to earn respect at the international arena.
