External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today met top Indian envoys in Gulf countries for consultations on Iraq issue. The minister was accompanied by Minister of State for External Affairs General VK Singh.
IRAQ CRISIS: SUSHMA SWARAJ MEETS ENVOYS IN GULF NATIONS
Swaraj chaired a round-table conference of India’s top envoys posted in Gulf countries including Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia on the situation in Iraq. The meeting also had a session with Ambassadors of the Gulf countries posted in India.The ministry is trying its best to get whatever help is possible for the safety of 10,000 Indian nationals trapped in Iraq in the conflicting as well as non-conflicting zones.

Iraq is witnessing serious strife with Sunni militants, backed by al Qaida, capturing two key cities and marching towards Baghdad. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have been displaced in the fighting that broke out on June 10.
